“Medusa with the Head” by Luciano Garbati.

The project, that was started before the pandemic was unveiled Yesterday, October 13. The artist is from Argentina, and sculpted the original in 2008.

It is located in Collect Pond Park, across from New York County Criminal Courthouse. It will be on display at the location until April 2021.

The project was brought to Laran Bronze by Vanessa Solomon who managed the project. It was slowed down due to the pandemic and travel restrictions. It is a reversal of Cellini’s Perseus with the Head of Medusa, who was punished for being a rape a rape victim in the original story. It has since gone viral as a symbol of feminism and controversy.
